Saint Louis, MO (PRWEB) January 31, 2013
Anchor Communications and Digital services is celebrating its 20th year helping customers succeed with advertising and marketing projects in St. Louis, Missouri.
The company’s rich history started in 1992 when Thomas Kirgin Sr. retired from 1120 KMOX AM, a 50,000 watt CBS News Talk station in Saint Louis. When Mr. Kirgin retired, he had been a top sales executive for KMOX for over 20 years. After his retirement, Thomas Kirgin started Anchor Communications as a media planning and buying firm in Rock Hill, Missouri. In 1997, Anchor Communications moved to Chesterfield Valley where they had offices in the Spirit of Saint Louis Airport.
Also in 1997 Thomas Kirgin Jr. left his career in North County Law Enforcement to work at Anchor as a media buying specialist. In 2002, Thomas Jr. (known as TJ) began to diversify the company by adding more agency services such as graphic design. With the growth to Anchor Communications, TJ started Anchor Digital Services in 2004. This was a web design and internet marketing company, which focused on new media marketing for Anchor clients. Anchor Digital saw immediate success and those revenues allowed TJ to purchase Anchor Communications from Thomas Kirgin Sr. in 2005.
Another milestone for the company came about in 2006 when Anchor exceeded $ 3 Million in gross sales. In 2007, Anchor developed a mobile marketing software platform, and Anchor Mobile was born. Today Anchor Mobile’s cloud-based mobile marketing software is used by over one thousand advertising and marketing companies in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. In 2012, Anchor bought their own building on historic St. Charles Main Street. The building is a 7000 square foot commercial space that was originally built in 1905.
Collectively, the Anchor companies employ over 14 people. Some of the latest work seen out of Anchor includes a re-branding and website design for Paul Rogers, goalie coach to Hope Solo and the Gold Medal Winning US Olympic Women’s Soccer team. Anchor also created a Facebook social networking campaign for Lordo’s Diamonds which resulted in over 6000 local fans. More work includes a dynamic mobile website for the Nation Air Traffic Controllers Association.
In the past, Anchor has worked on creative and other marketing campaigns for great brands such as Dr. Pepper, M&M Candies, Disney, Yahoo Sports, L’Oreal, Macy’s, and more.
TJ Kirgin had this to say about the 20 year milestone for the company:
“I’m proud to continue the work my father started all those years ago. Providing marketing strategies that work and create profits for our clients and income for my staff is something I highly enjoy. Seeing the companies we help be able to increase their revenue then expand to hire new people is an experience we at Anchor love having. I look forward to the next 20 years; the rate of change we experience in the field of marketing should certainly keep things interesting.”
Today Anchor still does media planning and buying, though the majority of their work is in inbound marketing. This includes SEO, online PR, email marketing, web design and development, and social networking. Today, Anchor focuses on strategies to bring customers to clients and creating processes of nurturing those relationships, creating brand loyalty and increasing sales.
