On February 18th, Atlanta plastic surgeon announced that it had joined the social bookmarking site Pinterest in order to enhance its patients online experience with the Atlanta-based plastic surgery clinic. The clinics Pinterest boards will feature images of facial features, as well as those linking to topics on health, beauty and fashion.
Our Pinterest boards could serve a variety of purposes to our clients, said Perimeter Plastic Surgery founder Dr. Mark Deutsch. Some may see these images as inspiration to make the change theyve been thinking about, but we also want to be able to tell our patients go use this tool, lets figure out what you like and why you like it. Deutsch also hopes that people who visit the clinics Pinterest will be able to use it as inspiration to stay healthy. He says, What we are really all about is helping people be happy with themselves, and a huge part of that is taking personal responsibility for your health and fitness.
Currently, the Work It Out! board includes daily work out routines, yoga instructionals, and a recipe for a fat-burning detox tea.
Pinterest is an online photo sharing site that allows users to create themed boards and pin ideas to them from around the web. In addition to pinning things they find online, like a website or product that they like, users can also upload their own content, like personal pictures.
Pnterest users in the US are primarily women ages 35-44, although the male demographic on the site is steadily climbing. In 2012, Pinterest was voted Best Social Media App and Peoples Voice Award for Best Functioning Visual Design at the Webby Awards.
Dr. Deutsch is a board-certified cosmetic surgeon and founder of Perimeter Plastic Surgery in Atlanta, Ga. In addition to his work in the states, he travels annually to South America to perform volunteer procedures.
