BitNami, developer of the BitNami Application Library, and members of the Plone community, which develops the state-of-the-art open source content management system (CMS), have collaborated to add Plone to the BitNami Application Library. As with all BitNami-packaged applications, free native installers, virtual machines and cloud templates are now available for Plone on BitNami.
Plone is a free and open source content management system built on top of the Zope application server. Rated as the most secure Content Management System by Mitre CVEs, Plone can be used to develop any type of of website, including blogs, internet sites, webshops and internal websites. It is also well positioned to be used as a document publishing system and groupware collaboration tool. High-profile public sector users include the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Brazilian Government, United Nations, City of Bern (Switzerland), New South Wales Government (Australia), and European Environment Agency.
The new BitNami Stack for Plone provides a complete, ready-to-run package for Plone and all of the other software it requires, so users of all technical abilities can have it up and running in minutes. It is now freely available in the form of native, self-contained installers, virtual machine images (VMs) and AMIs for the Amazon Cloud. Several versions of Linux are currently supported, with support for additional operating systems planned for the future.
As a leading content management system trusted by governments and companies of all sizes around the world, we are excited to release the BitNami Stack for Plone, said Erica Brescia, CEO of BitRock, the company behind BitNami. Adding Plone to the BitNami library will help to further drive its adoption while providing additional value to BitNami users.
“BitNami excels at making open source applications very easy for users to deploy,” said Plone Foundation Member Wyn Williams. We are very happy to have Plone added to the BitNami application library, which will make it easier for our users to get a complete Plone environment up and running.
