Alan Duval, CEO, Swingtime Golf USA, believes, If one can do it, imagine what Every-One can do! The Adopt-A-Golfer program for the United States has launched and it is about helping those who have the talent, but not the privilege. The initiative provides for the sponsorship of aspiring amateur golfers for a one to three-year term and aims to increase minority participation on professional golf tours.
This Adopt-A-Golfer program is predominantly aimed to assist disadvantaged and underprivileged amateur and aspiring people, regardless of their race, sex, religion or creed who are, or have been, oppressed by virtue of their sheer misfortune, says Alan Duval, visionary and founder of the program conceived in Knysna, South Africa in 2005.
Monetary constraints have long been a major roadblock for gifted players who lack funding to pay for the necessities for developing their game. The Adopt-A-Golfer program continues to expand sponsorship opportunities and supplies sponsored golfers with funding for their pressing professional needs and requirements. This much-needed support is achieved by strategically aligning with businesses interested in making a commitment to golf and the cultivation of young talent. The Adopt-A-Golfer fast-track assistance program also seeks the nomination of promising golfers with great potential and corporate firms interested in making a difference. The goal of the collaborative approach is to help amateur golfer’s dreams come true with pipeline access to the professional Tours.
It is our vision and mission to help these promising champions, who are ready to take their rightful place in all sectors of the golfing industry, including playing on the professional circuit, locally and internationally. Golf around the world has an untapped mine of talented, yet neglected golfers. Weve aspired to change the golfing culture in South Africa, and around the world through this program. Americas underprivileged minorities now have the opportunity of a lifetime to showcase their talents to the world and, with our help, be engineered to succeed to the pinnacle of their golfing careers, says Duval.
Swingtime Golf USA also announces that it has selected its first two adopted golfers in the United States: Kevin Hall, 30, of Cincinnati, Ohio, who has played on the NGA (Hooters Tour) and the National Professional Golf Tour. John Montgomery, 22, of Orlando, Florida, who made history as a college freshman by becoming the first Alabama State golfer to participate in the NCAA tournament (photos available). These talented young men will begin a training and practice regimen immediately, and will commence national and international Tour play sometime in 2013. Kevin and John will be officially introduced and inaugurated at the 4th Annual Swingtime Corporate Golf Challenge being held at Doral Golf Resort & Spa in Miami, Fla., December 2, 2012.
Benefits of the Adopt-A-Golfer program include full underwritten player development academy sponsorships with mentoring, coaching, travel, lodging and lessons. Eligibility requirements maintain that nominated golfers have a handicap of 10 or under. Currently there is no age or gender restriction.
