Westchester County, NY (PRWEB) October 25, 2012
Joel Seligman, President and CEO of Northern Westchester Hospital will be honored at the Westchester County Associations annual Leadership Dinner on November 1, 2012. Mr. Seligman was selected to receive WCAs 2012 APEX Award for Advocacy as a result of his deep commitment to fostering wellness and prevention programs for patients and community members.
Over the past three years, Mr. Seligman and his team have made significant progress against the goals set forth in Northern Westchester Hospitals Community Service Plan. Of particular note, Northern Westchester Hospital (NWH) is the first and only hospital in Westchester County to receive the CEO Cancer Gold Standard accreditation, recognizing the Hospital’s extraordinary commitment to fighting cancer in the workplace.
At the same time, Mr. Seligman and his Northern Westchester Hospital team have enhanced wellness, prevention and education for the broader community. Under Mr. Seligmans direction, Northern Westchester Hospital has created a vibrant youth education program with area schools that educates thousands of local students on various health and wellness topics, including proper nutrition, stress reduction, and physical health. His team has spearheaded nutritional programs for Westchester County citizens, including the creation of a teaching kitchen and medically-monitored exercise and wellness programs. NWH has worked with the Mt. Kisco Police Department and Neighbors Link to develop a cultural sensitivity training program in order to build positive relations with immigrant communities. NWHs Senior Health & Resource Fairs offered screenings for cholesterol, diabetes, blood pressure, osteoporosis, memory impairment and depression to hundreds of seniors in Westchester County. Many NWH outreach initiatives including screenings and vaccinations reach those with no access or limited access to healthcare services. These types of robust health and wellness initiatives are also one of the reasons NWH has achieved the status of a Planetree Designated Hospital with Distinction.
Northern Westchester Hospital is dedicated to improving and protecting the health of community members of all ages. Whether its through our youth outreach, community health, or senior health programs, we are proactively implementing programs that address the health and wellness needs of all community members, commented Joel Seligman, President and CEO of Northern Westchester Hospital. Im honored that the programs we have created are being recognized for building and maintaining a vibrant and healthy community.
The Westchester County Associations Leadership Dinner has been attended by members of the business community and business leaders across the region for over 60 years. The Apex awards recognize community members that have gone above and beyond in their professional capacity.
