Swedish mobile development tool company MoSync releases NFC-capability for Android development and future platforms. Developers working in the MoSync SDK can now be sure their own code is ready, not just for the fragment of models out there but for all future NFC-enabled platforms.

Today, only a small range of Android devices and a few Windows Phone 8 phones offer on-board near-field communication (NFC) sensing capabilities. This will change soon as many more device manufacturers and suppliers embrace this short-range radio technology. The NFC market is seeing immense growth in products and applications. More and more NFC-enabled devices are coming each month. To meet this demand, MoSync has now made it possible for any developer to write code that runs on current smartphones, even though most phones lack NFC capabilities today.

We have opened up to create apps which use short-range radio. The MoSync NFC API allows any mobile application to share data, reading and writing, through the near field communication features of the smartphone its running on. This means that anyone can write applications that communicate with NFC tags, in accordance with the most recent protocols and standards (NDEF, IsoDep, Mifare Classic/Ultralight). This opens up for a whole range of possibilities for payment, personal identification, tracking, and similar close-proximity applications.
