Losing a loved one is lonely. During the December holiday season and winter months, a grieving person may feel like there is no place to find comfort or relief from the darkness of grief. Pathways Hospice is holding a Celebration of Light Memorial Service that provides a place of light and hope for those who are mourning. Participants will light a candle, be with others who understand, and find comfort in a safe place.
Pathways Hospices Celebration of Light Memorial Service will be held in San Mateo on Sunday, December 2, 2012, 2 pm 3:30 pm at the Skylawn Memorial Park in San Mateo California], off of Highway 92 at Skyline Boulevard, San Mateo, California. The memorial service is free, open to the public and non-denominational.
RSVPs are encouraged to 1(888) 905-2800, ext. 4241 or bereavement(at)pathwayshealth(dot)org or visit http://www.pathwayshealth.org/grief-support/celebration-of-light.html
To light a candle and say my wife’s name aloud was painful, but I realize now that it was an important step in my healing journey, said Tom Hodges, past Celebration of Light participant. I attended the Pathways Hospice Celebration of Light Memorial Service just a few months after my wife died. Attending this comforting service reminded me that I was not alone in my grief.
Attendees at the Pathways Hospice Celebration of Light Memorial will light a candle of remembrance in honor of their loved one, hear inspiration readings, and join others who are also grieving in a quiet and reflective place. There will also be a memory table to provide the opportunity to attendees to place a picture or memory object to in honor of their loved one.
Pathways bereavement services are made possible through generous donations from the community to Pathways Home Health & Hospice. Services are available to anyone in the community and include: information and referrals, loss support groups, remembrance events, grief workshops, individual counseling, educational material, and community presentations.
Light refreshments hosted by Skylawn Memorial Park will be served following the program. Directions to Skylawn Memorial Park, off of Highway 92 at Skyline Boulevard, San Mateo, CA
