VTI Vacuum Technologies Inc., a provider of EMI/RFI/ESD shielding for electronic device designers and manufacturers, recently partnered with William D. Kimmel, PE of Kimmel Gerke Associates, Ltd., to design tests and publish a whitepaper exploring the EMI shielding effectiveness (SE) of conductively coated plastics where small voids are present.
The intent of this whitepaper is to demonstrate that minor voids in conductive coated plastics will have very little effect on the shielding effectiveness properties of a vacuum metallized enclosure. Small coating voids such as aperture cooling grids, arrays of small holes or even flaws occurred during product assembly will have minimal impact on the SE levels, says Blaine Bill, New Business Development Manager of VTI Vacuum Technologies Inc. The whitepaper is available at http://www.vactecinc.com/emi_shielding_effectiveness_whitepaper.html.
About VTI:
VTI Vacuum Technologies Inc. is an ISO 9001:2008 certified, ITAR compliant and veteran owned small business established in 1993. VTI supplies EMI shielding (electromagnetic interference), RFI shielding (radio frequency interference) and ESD shielding (electrostatic discharge) for medical, defense, aerospace and industrial devices. VTI utilizes a vacuum deposition process for selectively shielding plastic electronic enclosures.
In addition, VTI offers an automated Form-In-Place gasket process for providing conductive and environmental sealing on plastic or metal components. VTI utilizes multi-axis CNC dispensing robots to assure accuracy, repeatability and precise gasket placement. Variable heights and widths may be achieved on your intricate designed components.
