Houston, TX (PRWEB) December 24, 2012
On December 17th, 2012 Houston based Wristband Connection.com was contracted to make 2,500 green and white wristbands to be given away in Sandy Hook and Newtown, but an act of kindness quickly turned into a nation-wide Sandy Hook wristband fundraiser, which will forever change the way wristband fundraisers are run.
The wristbands read, “Angels of Sandy Hook” on one side and “Hope Faith Love” on the other. A distinctive silhouette of and angel adorns both ends of the front message while hearts accent the back. Immediately after the first wristbands were handed out, the demand for the bands went through the roof. Within a day another 7,500 wristbands were shipped to Newtown.
On December 18th a picture of the bands was posted on the Newtown Patch Facebook page. The next day the bands were donated to the Newtown police department, volunteer fire department and the faculty at Newtown high school. The bands were sold to raise money for the Sandy Hook School Support Fund that’s associated with the Newtown Savings Bank and United Way. This is when people from everywhere else started asking, “How can I get one too?”
After much thought and planning, as well as the blessing from official fund raisers, Wristband Connection stepped up to the plate and agreed to sell the wristbands directly from their website to make it easy for anyone to get one for their donation of 3-$ 5.00. The company will only keep the cost of the bands and the operating expenses which is estimated to be around .75 per wristband or less. The rest of the proceeds will be sent in the name of the fund to the Sandy Hook resident who started this, as a system of checks and balances. He will then deliver the check to Newtown Savings Bank.
“We have offered to help raise money for causes in the past, but it has always been difficult because of those who set up wristband “fundraisers” only to keep the money for themselves.” Says company president Victor Rey. Distributing the wristbands directly from the manufacturer solves a plethora of problems caused for those who want to start a wristband fundraiser.
The company has developed their own software that allows fundraisers the ability to see the number of sales that come from specific links. Rey admits it is not 100% accurate because of those who may find shared links or buy directly from the sites pages which often rank well in search engines. Even so, if there is doubt about the company delivering all the proceeds as promised, one’s accountant is entitled to see the record of orders.
The Sandy Hook wristbands can be seen on Facebook where links to the buy page and lots of positive support can also be found.
Wristband connection’s founder started the first one piece minimum order, custom wristband company in 2004 out of a two person office. A few months later he helped create a larger silicone wristband company before creating Wristband Connection yet another 9 months later. For the last seven years the company has been operating out of a 4000 square foot, tightly packed facility where they keep over a million wristbands in stock. They now personalize as many as 30,000 silicone wristbands per day including several personalized I.D., bottle bands and other specialty wristband designs. They also love helping people with their wristband fundraisers.
