(“Sanrio,” Head office: Shingawa-ku, Tokyo, President CEO: Shintaro Tsuji) to release an educational iPhone and iPad application for children. The application, “Hello Kitty Friendly Land,” was launched in the App Store in the United States on 16 November, 2012.

Using the application, children can befriend popular Sanrio characters, including Hello Kitty, and play peek-a-boo, puzzles, and dress-up games with the characters.
Educational app that allows children to experience the joy of making friends
The application is available for free download. With repeated play, the number of Hello Kitty friends that appear in the peek-a-boo game will increase, and the player will be able to receive apples from these new friends. While enjoying a game of peek-a-boo or other games, children will also be able to experience the joy of making more friends. This educational application teaches young children the joy of expanding their circle of friends.
“Dream cast” of Hello Kitty, My Melody, LittleTwinStars, and other characters as friends
The thrill of this application lies in increasing the number of friends. Players can befriend Hello Kitty with the free version of the game. In addition, they can also become friends with other Sanrio characters such as My Melody and the LittleTwinStars.
Players can either use the apples they have received from their friends, or obtain passport stamps to the “Friendly Land” of their favorite characters through the Shop screen. Players will be able to befriend the new character by riding on an airplane together with Hello Kitty to the character’s “Friendly Land.”
Once they have become friends, the new friends can cross the boundaries of the “Friendly Lands” and appear in peek-a-boo games. There will also be four new additional puzzles and more games on the menu.
Game contents
Peek-a-boo: The character does a “peek-a-boo” when the screen is touched.
Puzzle: The player puts the puzzle pieces together to complete an illustration of the character.
Dress-up: Dress up Hello Kitty in different clothing styles, and with ribbons and accessories.
Card collection: Cards of the characters that appear are added.
*In the dress-up game, players can increase the number of items by exchanging apples for items or purchasing add-ons.
