Donatables is excited to announce its most recent partnership with Ecotrust, a top Portland nonprofit working to build a new economy around people and the places they live. Donatables Facebook app lets Ecotrust turn donations into social gifts that donors can give to friends and family via Facebook.
Users can select a virtual gift that represents providing kids with healthier school lunches, or planting trees to support salmon habitat for example, and then gift it directly to a friends wall on Facebook. The gift store has just been launched on Ecotrusts Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ecotrust/app_223614097749961
Donatables was created around a simple idea: make giving simple, social, and fun. Simply select a gift on the Ecotrust facebook page, pick a friend, write a short gift message, and complete the donation all from facebook. The friend receives a fun and thoughtful virtual gift posted to their Facebook wall. The donor will also get a copy on their wall to help expose Ecotrust to as much of their social network as the donor permits. And of course, Ecotrust receives a donation.
Ecotrust http://www.ecotrust.org has been instrumental in getting the idea off the ground, supporting the concept from day one. Ecotrust was one of the first local organizations we contacted, and theyve been incredibly supportive, notes Michael LaPeter, co-founder of Donatables. Were excited that our app can help them spread the word even further among fans and friends and create an entirely new way of fundraising for Ecotrust.
