New York, NY (PRWEB) November 27, 2012

Though Hurricane Sandy slammed the East Coast in October 2012, devastating millions of people, it paved the way for a unity from the West to the East. Food Network Alum and Celebrity Chef Debbie Lee, is premiering a one-of-a-kind Korean inspired 7-course dinner to raise funds for Hurricane Sandy victims in New York City, December 4th and 5th at miss Korea BBQ on Third Floor, a newly opened branch of miss Korea BBQ Restaurant. The first time that the Los Angeles based chef will be cooking for the New York diners; chef Lee has requested that 100% of the proceeds go directly to Food Bank NYC. Debbie Lee, a Southern California based chef, while visiting New York City for business, ended up being caught in a storm that is the 2nd largest natural disaster in the US. Instead of immediately jetting back to LA, chef Lee had become a part of the east coast community and experienced first hand a time that will change the east coast forever. Seeing the devastation as she saw people lose their homes and loved ones, this monstrous storm revealed another facet of the real world, and she felt lucky to have a safe home to stay in and be able to have hot meals everyday. She originally planned on flying back to Los Angeles in November but extended her trip thinking that she could help the victims with her gift and positive energy. “As a chef, the worst thing is to know people are hungry and can’t afford to eat,’ said Debbie Lee. She proclaims this matter is not limited to East coasters but all Americans, and Sandy relief efforts could be made across the country.

Sophia Lee, the owner of miss Korea BBQ in midtown Manhattan, and Seolbin Park, a founder and president of SB Design & PR in NYC, were organizing the hub to raise funds to help people who were affected by Sandy, naturally teamed up with Debbie Lee to create this one-of-a-kind charity dinner. United by fate, these three Korean-American women, Sophia Lee, Debbie Lee and Seolbin Park are willing to devote their time and resources to benefit those affected by the horrific storm. They believe their humanitarian efforts will speak louder than words, with the hopes of feeding thousands of those in need. Although these culinary Charlies angels are from different regions and working in different fields, they are now acting as one and share one common goal: providing help for the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

A Taste of Joseon: A modern interpretation of royal court dining will be premiered at miss Korea BBQ on Third Floor. The 7-course dinner is chef Lees playful interpretation of a traditional Korean version of prix-fixe dining, initially created for Korean Royalty. Tickets are $ 100 per person and can be purchased on miss Korea BBQs website, http://on3rd.misskoreabbq.com/event.

ABOUT DEBBIE LEE:

Often referred to as the female David Chang, chef Debbie Lee gained a legion of fans as she reached the top three in Season 5 of The Next Food Network Star and now Angelenos line up at her hugely popular restaurant, Ahn-Joo which means pub snacks in Korean. Her previous guest stints at Breadbar including launching the widely popular Hatchi Series and also previewing her 8-week pop-up series at the West Third Street location has allowed Debbie to run in a culinary league of her own. Not to mention she is the first chef from a Food Truck (recent venture ThePoutine Truck) to be heralded as one of the top ten restaurants of the year (Huffington Post July 2011).

With her first cookbook Seoultown Kitchen released in October 2011 Debbies path for expanding her gastronomic versatility has become endless. Her first cookbook received critical acclaim right out the door, making NY Times most notable cookbooks for 2011. To paramount the success, Seoultown Kitchen was also named by Details Magazine one of the top 10 books of the year, and also landed a first-time nomination from the International Association of Culinary Professionals in the international cookbook category. Her user-friendly approach to breaking down Korean flavors is done so effortlessly, as seen on her media appearances to include The Nate Berkus Show, Fox Morning News, and Martha Stewart Living Channel to name a few. Her longtime and loyal following of customers, has enabled Sophia to expand and open a new branch of miss Korea BBQ on Third Floor, this recent November. It stimulates not only the sense of rich taste but also aesthetic sensibility from its beautiful angelic atmosphere. Even though her business was one of thousands affected from the disaster of hurricane Sandy, Sophias selfless compassion seeks ways to help those who are under much worse devastation than her own. She is hosting her restaurant for two nights, along with all other costs associated with this event so that as much profit can be given directly to Food Bank NYC.
