Alan Griffett at MotorCycle Direct admits buying gifts for motorcyclists can be extremely difficult unless you share the interest with that person. We hope to take some of the stress out of Christmas shopping so the emphasis can be placed on enjoying quality time with friends and family.
When buying for a biker, practical but quality gifts are essential. If any corners are cut it is the riders health, safety or even the machine itself that is at stake, so its just not worth the risk.
The top wish list categories to be revealed from the poll were clothing with warming technology, bike security solutions and essential motorcycle accessories.
Now that the colder weather has settled in, any riders still bravely venturing out need to be fully prepared for any rain, wind and maybe even snow! Participants highly recommended anti-freeze underwear which trump even the hardiest of thermals and also a pair of warm and furry gloves, making sure that each digit remains firmly attached! While thermals have never had the sexiest of images, when thats all that is between you and the elements they take on real importance!
Another great idea is a backpack. Purpose made biker backpacks are perfect for carrying spare warm clothing or snacks on a journey and are designed to be extra padded so that bikers wont incur any friction burns or discomfort.
Other possibilities to consider are security solutions to help keep their motorcycle safer. One item becoming more popular is an alarmed padlock. This is a relatively new piece of equipment (only released in the latter part of 2012) which acts as a deterrent but will also sound an alarm, should anyone try to steal the bike. Alternatively, a grip-lock system will clamp both the throttle and handbrake instantly to prevent any would-be thieves from getting away.

Hopefully this insight into the secret wish list of an avid biker will relieve a little of the usual Christmas pressures and will produce lots of smiles on Christmas morning. From everybody at MCD, have a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
